Q: Can I use the templates for commercial uses- like an online store?A: Yes the templates can be used in this way, as long as you are not trying redistribute my templates, claim them as your own or use my templates in a derogatory way- I am fine with however you'd like to use them.
Q: Can I alter the templates to make them more to my style?A: You are free to change up my templates however you wish, all I ask is that you leave the credits going back to simplyfabulousbloggertemplates.com at the bottom of the page
Q: I tried to install my template but it keeps giving me an error "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly." what am I doing wrong?A: The problem occurs most commonly when people copy & paste the html into the html section rather than upload the HTML using the uploader on the html page. If you are unsure as to how to install your template be sure to refer to my tutorial- it simply outlines step by step how to install a template. If even after this tutorial you continue to have problems, then contact em I will do my best to assist you.
Q: I keep losing my page elements every time I change my template- how do I avoid this?A: Blogger just instituted a way to keep your widgets. when you install your template they give you the option to keep or delete your widgets- just select to keep your widgets. While this is usually an effective method do not rely on it- I still suggest you save them beforehand in a text document in case any are lost in transition. If you choose the option to 'keep widgets' your gadgets will change order- so you will have to go back in to rearrange them.
Q: I uploaded one of your templates and the header title is in the wrong spot or not in the spot I want it- how do I move it over?A: Not all templates are the same but generally you can find where to change the margins/padding for your title in the header section of your html. You will see under header it will say "padding: 15px 0px 0px 20px;" or something close to that. It may be different and listed as margin- but if you aren't sure which one to change just increase one of the numbers and hit preview. You will see fairly quickly what numbers do what and from there you should be able to adjust them to move your title where you want it. If you don't like how it's being moved around and want it changed back, just 'clear edits' and start over.
Q: I just uploaded a template successfully but I don't like the size of the font, what can I do to make it bigger or smaller?A: This can be a tough one, because not all my blogs are written the same. Some blogs have the 'template designer' enabled where you can easily go in and change your font size/colors with a few clicks. But not all our templates have this enabled because we wanted more font selection than blogger provided. So if your 'fonts and colors menu' is not enabled go to your html section. Throughout the code you will see 'font-size: 25px' for example- just increase or decrease the number (depending if you want the font bigger or smaller) then preview. You'll see the font that changed size, so from there you can continue to tweak the size until you have gone through the whole code changing the font sizes as you go. Again if you messed it up just clear edits are start again.
Q: I would like to add my own custom text to my header- how do I do this?A: Well go to your blog to your header and right click and select 'view background image' which will bring you to the image URL. Then right click and select 'save image as" and save it to your desktop. Now you need to have some knowledge of photoshop, once you've added in your title save it. Now go to your page elements section and under header click 'edit' this will pop up a window where you can upload your header. Before uploading make sure to placement is set to 'instead of title and description' and also be sure it's isn't set to shrink it either. Now upload your header and save it- and you should be done!
Note: follow this tutorial on specific instructions on how to do this.
Q: There is no date on the blog I just uploaded- how do I add in the date over my posts?A: It's pretty simple, if you want to change it to have a date find this code in your HTML:
now replace it with this code:
Q: I installed a template and my comments are showing up jumbled OR things are displaying funny- can it be fixed?A: The quick answer is YES, but the cause of display problems isn't always the same. Here is a list of the most well known causes and the fixes for them.
1) a browser thats not up to date- the fix? Update your browser or even better switch to firefox (they have WAY less display issues)
2) that particular blog- yep blogs go bad sometimes. with no explanation- it often happens after a template change but there is no known fix except to open a new blog and export your blog into a new one. it is actually a simple process- exporting your blog takes all your posts and comments and put them into a new blog-fromt here just switch your blog address back and it's as good a new. for more info on importing/exporting in blogger go HERE
3) A blog bug- right now I am working on removing the known bugs as I have time but if you have done the above things and STILL have problems with the blog displaying incorrectly contact me and I'll send you the fix.
Q: I would like a more custom look- what options out there to get the custom look I'm after?A: Well I have a couple options: 1) My Premades, they are beautiful and inexpensive which is great for the everyday blogger. I do make a few customizations on these premades- primarily adding in photos and custom text for people. I charge $20 to do this, but if you want further customizations... I'm afraid you'll have to figure it out yourself because thats all I do for my premades. They come as is and if you want an even more custom look you'd have to consider my other option.
2) Custom templates, this option isn't for everyone as my custom work comes with a price because it made exclusively for you, If this is something you are interested in feel free to contact me.
Q: Do you have tutorials?A: YES! they can be found HERE
if you have requests for tutorials don't hesitate to let me know.
Q: Can a make a request, for a blog design in your freebie collection?A: Yes, request away! please note though that just because you make a request does not mean I will make the design, and I reserve the right not to. Some want a very specific look and I usually go with something more generic that will work for many people. But if you have a great idea I will do my best to post it.
